[s-cars] X-plugs, O-rings, and Pentosin... all over the place!

Varon: There are two ways that the Pentosin leaks around the X-plug:
1. Bad O-rings: Like when you cheap out and go with any old
FLAPS/HomeDepot O-ring that just happens to be the correct size. As
they say, size doesn't count (for everything). Its whether or not the
O-ring rubber material is compatible with Pentosin (and this doesn't
necessarily mean air conditioning fluid/gas). Find the correct O-ring.
The dealer has them. Porsche dealers have them. They aren't that
expensive. Certainly not as expensive as losing a liter (or more) all
over your engine bay.
2. Corrosion. The Pentosin "eats" the plug and probably the plug
seating surface of the pump, creating a pathway for the fluid to squeak
by. Sometimes, a quick fix is just tightening the X-plug (squishing the
O-ring into the corroded area).(BTDT) The better fix is a new plug and
O-ring (about $10 at the dealer).
