FW: [s-cars] RS2 MAF

So here what I found was that the real difference was in corrected flow,
the software should be fine, but the amount of back pressure at a given
flow is greater with the aan. So I would bet that the basic
anometer/hot wire is the same the electronics the same just that the
plastic grid RS2 vs. the steel mesh AAN.
What is the effect, a bit more negative pressure in the intake tract
with the stock one with both screens. A bit of hp robbed, take out one
screen and they are very close, take out both and if memory serves the
aan may be a bit better.
An aside, I use a GM maf with a voltage corrector from split second and
custom software from Mihnea. My maf and voltage corrector combined was
in the $400 range. It is a 4" 100mm inlet and a 3.5" 89mm outlet on the
maf I used, for nearly the same price you can get a 4.5" 115mm inlet and
4" 100mm outlet maf, used on a ford lightening I believe.
So no big surprise, the output is voltage, get it in a range the ecu
will accept and anything will work, any maf, hot plate or hot wire, even
some map to maf converter and get rid of the maf all together. People
told me it wasn't possible but honestly if you don't get the data from
the flow bench you could be in the dark for a long time trying to get
some standard programming to work. After I installed my set up it fired
on the first try and was very close with a standard chip to what I had
with the rs2 maf.

The outputs are similar if not identical for a stock MAF and a RS2 MAF
at
least below 4.5 volts (limit of the test equipment). Trevor flow benched
it and I
have seen his incredible setup and the actual data he accumulated ...
considering his ME background and the precise nature and amount of data
he took
measuring flow rate and output voltage ... I can't see any significant
differences
in output.
Also for what it is worth I have tested the RS2 Rev B software with the
ADU
resistor Motronics change and have no issues at all using this software
with
the standard MAF.
Best regards,
Feico van der Laan
