Paul-
The first thing I would check is that you wired the stuff
properly. Is it possible that you wired it backwards, that
might explain the behavior you're noticing.
When you're lighting the pod, I'd highly recommend getting
the proper direct-fit red LED for illumination rather than
the bulb with the red condom, it will give you better results.
BTW, I wired my gauge in with power from under the steering
column, I believe one of the feeds for the instrument cluster.

So I finally got around to wiring up the light to my boost gauge (thanks
Rich A. for the help) this weekend. Wired it to the ash tray light.
Turned on parking lights, great, it works, buttoned it all up.
But then he left and I turned on the low beams and played with the
dimmer. Boost gauge light disappears as I increase the dash lighting.
WTF?
Basically, I now see that the light is somehow correlated into the
odometer-style lighting... in other words, the light is on all the time
with the lights off. Then, as the lights are turned on the boost gauge
dims way down... just like the odometer window does.
