Paul,
I just used the lug going to the headlight relay underneath the steering
wheel. It was super easy and anytime I have the headlights on the boost
gauge is lit. I suppose it isn't with the parking lights on but seeing that
it is illegal to drive with just your parking lights on and you don't get
much boost at idle I figured I didn't care :)

Subject: [s-cars] boost gauge illumination
So I finally got around to wiring up the light to my boost gauge (thanks
Rich A. for the help) this weekend. Wired it to the ash tray light. Turned
on parking lights, great, it works, buttoned it all up.
But then he left and I turned on the low beams and played with the dimmer.
Boost gauge light disappears as I increase the dash lighting. WTF?
Basically, I now see that the light is somehow correlated into the
odometer-style lighting... in other words, the light is on all the time
with the lights off. Then, as the lights are turned on the boost gauge dims
way down... just like the odometer window does.
What did we do wrong / how do I remedy? Not a big deal seeing as I lived
sans lighted gauge for oh 30+ months now, but would like to fix it.
OTHERwise I'm thrilled... very subtle. I had cut out the A pillar and
mounted the pod behind it, and the black faced VDO gauge looks great with
the red backlighting. Just need it a hair brighter...
TIA.
-Paul not an electrical dude and need others such as Rich for help always K.
