OK,
To bore you before the results... My theory was this: If you do some
studying of the published conventional wisdom, a couple of things stand out.

First... a dual exhaust made from 2" piping (close to ours) should be capable
of supporting about 680hp. A single exhaust made from 3" piping should be
capable of supporting about 710hp.

My thoughts: We are close to neither figure. Exhaust is NOT the place to
look for gains. The engine, viewed as a system (air filter to tailpipe),
contains restrictions. Finding the one that is hindering the system from further
gains is the only one that will yield results. Seems reasonable, right?

Still... in the back of my mind I was seeing racecars... exhausts no more
than "zoomies" used to simply exit away from the car... compared to the 2
cat/2muffler/200lb system found under the stock s-car.

Well...

The car made 323hp ATW... not 1 hp more or less than with the stock system in
place. The car lost 14ft/lbs of torque with open exhaust... and the curve
did not move appreciably in either direction. In short... I was very surprised.
Hey... thanks for participating, class... now it's time for lunch.
Take care,
Dave
