It was not rocket surgery or a great feat of engineering but I thought I would post a couple of pictures. I used some galvanized metal channel I had laying around since I built my boogie van for a trip to California back in 1972 (those were the days!). Cut a small piece of it, cut it to fit, bent a lip on it and riveted it and glued it in place. The capper (literally) was taking the cover off a Bik pen, slicing it and gluing it on the lip. Hope this is helpful to another lister with a broken bumper bracket. Pictures are at http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/78202/100_0618.jpg and http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/78202/100_0619.jpg

Bob,
the timing of your post is nothing short of amazing. No sooner than yesterday
while reinstalling the RH side headlight with the repaired bracket did I notice
that the RH side of the front bumper was sticking out by a good 1/4". I pulled on
the bumper and realised that it was no longer held by the dove tail bracket on the
fender. I scratched my... head... for a while trying to figure out how to fix it,
but didn't come up to any conclusion and shoved the bumper cover back in place.
Which promptly fell out again.

Woke up this morning to read the S-list and voilĂ  - I see the repair procedure
with pix to boot. Thank you Sir!
