[s-cars] Door lock broken?

Gents,
I removed my door trim panel to "de-bose" the speaker, started putting
it back together and tested the door locks - the driver door lock will
not work.  No power locks ( I can hear the motors on the other doors,
but not the drivers.  In fact, when I insert the key to the drivers
door, I can't even turn it in the direction to lock (I can in the
direction to un-lock).

I've left it apart with plans of digging deeper and removing the
mechanism.  Any hints to what happened or any known failures with the 
door lock mechanisms?

Is there some sort of security feature that prevents tampering?  What
are the "rules" to un-screw it?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
