Ron,

I purchased the optional remote display and integrated it into my
instrument cluster using this guide: http://www.elektro.com/~audi/v1/

Then I installed by V1 above the rear view mirror running the power
cable under the headliner, and under the trim on the driver's side.
I easily found power under the dash that is controlled by the ignition
switch for the V1.

Makes for a nice neat install with an easily tapped into power source.

Let me know if you have any questions, willing to help.
