[s-cars] more fuel pump.. harness,guage&float

first, a BIG thanks to bob and fred.
 i figured it out with a new found sense of patience... however, now the 
harness is loose, with significant play.. not a broken play, but more like a 
movement that will require a greater sense of patience to put back 
securely.  

i am also wondering about my other goal..to fix a faulty fuel guage. i found 
it was the wire connecting the float arm to the other end(spade) that talks 
to the sensor(& i think negative terminal on the pump). 

well, that wire is brittle,bare,and just plain odd.  it doesnt have a 
casing, can anybody tell me what is special about this wire? &/or why it 
can/cannot be replaced with similar.

currently, i took up SOME slack in the wire and re-soldered. since the break 
was right at the float arm spade hookup.  anybody have a good reason that i 
shouldnt proceed as is. ive got some, its still brittle and i just dont 
understand why its bare(yes,the whole wire).
