Bob-
I would look at the Nissan Altima SE-R (needs better suspension and
brakes to make it killer), whether you get the 6-speed manual or
5-speed auto as a possibility. Much nicer seats than a regular Altima,
much nicer leather trim, looks sharp, priced under $30k.

The Acura TSX is another very nice, good handling car, economical with
the 4 cylinder engine, decent power (200hp), excellent build quality,
excellent reliability, fun to drive, again under $30k.

Subaru Legacy 2.5GT is also really nice, but in terms of economy, it's
a bit gas-hungry.

I'd also look at the Mazdaspeed 6, but that might be a bit gas-hungry as well.

Those would be my top two picks- the Accord EX V-6 might work for you
as well. Camrys are way too soft and dull IMHO, the Passat is nice but
the new one is literally right around the corner.

Can I interest you in the A3 2.0T? That starts under $30k, plenty of
power, fairly economical, although it's an Audi.

Taka
