Taka,
I have had luck with the old Kicker F Series of subs. They sound pretty
good given the car body is solid, as the free-airs tend to put a lot more
energy into the body. I have 2 10" that I have owned since 1992. I ran
them in two different cars for a total of about 10 years. They still show
no signs of wear, spiders are still totally level. The best I ever heard
with free-airs was an '89 T-Bird with the subs mounted in the back deck with
MB Quarts up front and MMATS amplifiers. It's been awhile since I was
heavily into the Car Audio scene but I still tinker every once in awhile.
Here was a setup I did in an '89 200 Avant with one 12" (even kept the apre
tire under the sub box). Sounded pretty good, not quite as good as my
Harmon Kardon/Infinity home system but pretty nice :)

Calvin-
Have you had good experiences with free-air subs? I have not heard a
good system with
free-air subs. That's why I advocated an acoustic suspension box.
A nice 250W or 300W monoblock would be nice for the sub.
