Tim - If I were you, I'd flush the system ASAP (like tomorrow or tonight)
to take care of the smidgen of DOT 4 (seals probably don't like it, and
the system could probably use a flush anyways). In the future observe the
"Use only mineral hydraulic fluid - G00 2000 only" label - which means
Pentosin 11S. If you can, avoid starting the car and circulating that
stuff. See Scott Mockry's site for a how-to flush overview:

Never seen the reservoir "burp", but maybe more senior listers have some
info. I'd flush and wait for it to happen again . . . theories on burping
etiology? Pressure backflow from bomb? New bomb needed? In any case,
let the list know what happens so your situation goes into the record.

My car just burped lots of fluid out of the power steering reservoir
for some unknown reason. I had a little generic DOT 4 fluid that I
inadvertantly put an ounce or 2 into this reservoir. I don't think
this is what I should have done. I have 2 questions.

1. Has anybody else had the reservoir burp?

2. Do I need to flush this DOT 4 out of the system? Is there a
recommended procedure for flushing the power steering system?

thanks
Tim
