Ivan,
Is there any noticeable play with oil pressure on the center
bearing? ;-)
That's when it counts. It is difficult to check sideplay with the
turbo spooled
up though. Was there much oil in the Michelin Man hose ? The hoses
and I/C
are better indicators of condition before it leaks copious amounts
of oil directly
past the turbine seal to the exhaust telling everyone your turbo is
shot.
And, yes the shaft will have sideplay but if it doesn't come back,
that's trouble.
