[s-cars] quick coil replacement question

I have determined that my #2 cylinder's coil is bad, what I am unsure
of is how to replace it.

First I am deducing that the yellow wire is the replacement for the
brown, and black stays black.

But what is the recommended way of connecting the wires? Mechanical
Butt connectors, solder and heat shrink? My current theory is to cut
where it goes through the protective rubber tubing outside of the valve
cover, splice with butt connectors and wrap with electrical tape.

I also found the #2 coil's black wire had a crack in it, could that be
the culprit? Should I simply wrap that wire with electrical tape and
try it out? I have a coil but I can leave it on my shelf until later.
