Once you get the UrS4 set up, it's very reliable (except for the blower and the seat heaters).  I did own a Turbo Quattro Coupe for a few years, and THAT was a money pit.  The fun (and expense) is in the modifications.

  Don't be so afraid. Buy a good car to start with and pleasure is almost  
  guaranteed. I have had to press mine into daily duty since my URQ was  murdered by 
  a hit and run in March. I'm picking up the URQs replacement at  UPG east 
  coast on the 26th, and I've been told we will do a cruise to S-fest.  That will be 
  fantastic!!
  What a delight my S6 has been! With RS2 mods it is afraid of very little on  
  the road today. A few weeks ago there was a very surprised (and irritated)  
  hopped-up Mustang Cobra.
  I think the URS6 is one of the best cars Audi ever built. I get to drive  all 
  the new ones on a daily basis and don't get me wrong- they are getting to be  
  excellent machines, but the URS6 is truly a great automobile. We currently 
  have  an RS6 on consignment, and my car will definitely not out run it, but it  
  would give it a good run.
