[s-cars] Oil Pressure Gauge & Sender Install?

Chris,

Rather than an aftermarket gauge you can get one from an S4. The S4 has
water temp, oil press, oil temp, fuel, and a clock. The S6 has the same
thing except that the oil pressure gauge was replaced with a
voltmeter.....Nobody knows why they got rid of the awesome gauge package in
the 200's in order to give us, of all things, an analog clock! It's even
worse in my 2001 A6, all you have is fuel, water temp, and oil temp. If I
had to pick gauges in order of what I wanted in the car, the first would be
a tach and the next would be oil pressure. Unless I am tracking my car or
driving wise open on the autobahn chances are that my oil temp is going to
be fine. After ruining my very first engine rebuild because the oil pump
pickup came loose and I didn't realize it because all I had was a idiot
light for oil pressure I don't drive cars without oil pressure gauges. You
can always just put in a mechanical gauge. They are more accurate and
cheaper.

Subject: [s-cars] Oil Pressure Gauge & Sender Install?

Howdy Folks,

Relatively new to the S-Car list and have been lurking for a bit but some
may remember me from the 200q-20v list. Yes, I have made the upgrade to an
S6 like many of you, though I still have my 200q..

I have a query regarding installation of an aftermarket oil pressure
gauge - which the bean-counters erred in omitting. Does anybody know for
certain what aftermarket gauges are compatible with the OEM sending unit as
used on the 3B - and I believe early versions of the AAN/S4?

Also, it appears the port where the 3B sender is normally installed is now
'plugged' - is this simply a threaded plug or is it something more
permanent? I would prefer to utilize this port rather than a T-fitting in
the pressure warning sensor port now in use.

Any help/BTDT on the topic would be appreciated - I have searched the
archives, among other sources, with no real luck or direction..

  Thanks in advance,

  Chris Hemberger
