My car is Tornado Red and DEFINITELY has clearcoat....how do I know, well
some of it is coming off. Also, when I took it into a very high end detail
shop they actually "measured" the paint to see what kind of wax treatment
would work best and they confirmed there was clear coat there. Now, whether
it was put on aftermarket by the first owner I don't know....I have owned it
since 80k miles.

12k is way too much. Even for the fastest color Audi has made. On the UrS
cars I believe none were clearcoated at the factory. They were a single
stage paint. Why? Only Hans and Franz know. Ski cars have not only roof
dings/scratches but severe road rash. And if maintenance has been sketchy
12k is again too much.

What has worked for me with the Tornado is using Menzerna's Final polish,
followed by glaze, and then their FMJ. Since I've done that I can go about
a month and a half or so here in Redding. yes I'm going for the respray one
day but I have too many mods to pay for first :)
