[s-cars] S6 Tach reading low RPM's

Talking about VAG-COM and instrument clusters, my VAG-COM can never see the
IC - times out due to communication error.

Any ideas how to resolve this? Looked on the Ross-Tech website but although
seen recommended fix have had no luck.

Thanks

It's actually programmed for a 6 cylinder. Otherwise it would be
reading high, not low.

Here are the instructions for reprogramming the clusters on the S6 using
VAG-COM.

Click on "Select Control Module"
Click on "17-Instruments"
Click on "Recode-07"
The top field is labeled Software Code, and yours will display 00262.

The first two digits are irrelevant.
The third digit is the country code; 2 - USA, 3 - Canada
The fourth digit is # of cylinders
The fifth digit is for type of engine; 2 - gasoline

So, change your code to 00252 and click on "Do it".
