[s-cars] Thinking about a VW

Hi Nic,

I have a car nearly identical to the one you describe, right down to the
suspension, wheels and tinted windows. Mine happens to be red with tan
leather, now with 36k miles. I found it in Tampa, FL and drove it back
to sunny Detroit.

I love it, it's a ton of fun to drive and handles the snow nearly as
well as my S4. The only bummer is the 5-speed automatic, but the car is
my wife's daily driver and she wasn't willing to do the 6-speed while
trying to deal with our kids in the back seat. It's even more of a "wolf
in sheep's clothing" than the S4--nobody pulls up next to a station
wagon driven by a 40-year-old housewife and expects to get dusted off
the line. :-D

We've only had the car for about 6 months but have had zero problems.
Ours also has the extended warranty, meaning I am good until 74,000
miles so I am not too worried about repair or parts costs for the next
few years.

One odd thing about the car is that it takes something like 9.5 quarts
of (as I recall) 0w40 synthetic.
