i ran into this flaring problem too. purchased two more different flaring tools still would not flare properly. either pushed the tube out of the clamp or so distorted the tube that the flare would split. in disgust at my lack of mechanical ability i took the tubing to a local mechanic and explained my problem he just chuckled reached under his bench and came up with a flaring tool weighing about 50 lbs! inserted the correct mandrels and simply pulled a cam lever the resultant perfect flare took all of two minutes. the right tool is the answer. best of all he did it for no charge just to see the look on my face.
