[s-cars] Clutch question

A local s-car owner called me up and complained that all of a sudden his
clutch felt really weird. I went over to his house to take a look. The
pedal was really mushy and was slow to come back up. The clutch still
seemed to grab quite well. I figured it was either a leaking master or
slave cylinder. I checked the master cylinder and found no signs of a
leak. I took a peek at the slave cylinder and sure enough it was all
wet. I figured that must be the culprit. He took the car in to have
the slave cylinder replaced. They replaced his slave cylinder and
clutch arm because they said it was broken. He got the car back and he
said it must be the clutch disc because it's slipping like a madman and
he can't get up a hill. When I tried the car the clutch seemed to grab
fine. Do you think the shop that did the slave could have somehow
screwed up or was the clutch toast from the beginning?
