The easy thing to do would be blame Unka Bart, but that
wouldn't be nice. Given the weather conditions, maybe
an old, hard serpentine belt got wet and started to slip.
Overnight in the garage the belt and pulleys dried out
and the car acted like nothing had happened. Good until
the next time it rains.
I'd double check the condition of the serpentine belt.
If you don't know when it was last replaced, it's time.
I'm about to replace mine (have the belt, waiting for
the weekend); the supplier told me belts last about 15K
miles, which surprised me as being short lived.
