Gentleman,
With a background in professional photography I am well informed in
copyright laws. Not expecting anyone to accept my word on this issue I
researched this subject.
So to clear this issue up, if you go to this page on the University of
Missouri website:
http://outreach.missouri.edu/staff/marketing/copyright.html
You can read the following:
"Copyright is fixed at the time a work is created. Registering a
copyright is not required for protection, and the owner is not required
to display the copyright symbol -- ©."
That's right, the copyright is created when the photograph is taken, no
copyright has to be applied for. Simply speaking, copying photographs
from other websites without the permission of the owner of the
photograph is copyright infringement.
Now while I applaud his intentions to add to the Audi community, I
believe safer steps need to be taken while building this portal. And
while I appreciate the cautious nature some individuals have shown, I
see no reason why this portal can't be built in such a way as to add to
the strength of the Audi community (if built correctly).
Hope this information helps
Respectfully
Chris
