Um, yes, but I couldn't tell you exactly what my mechanic did. I can operate
my fogs independently of any other lights. They come on with the ignition
and are controlled by the regular switch on the dash. They are still  tied
into the high beam setup, as when I switch to high beams, I think they go
off.

I believe that one of the connections on the fog light switch is from the
low beam. If you replace this with an ignition-switched source, your fogs
should operate the same as mine.

On my '02, I approximated this via a jumper in the fuse box. You might want
to probe around there to see if you can find the low beam switch for the
fog, as there's not a lot of room behind the switch...and there's not a lot
of extra wire in the harness to pull it out...
