I certainly agree with the previous sentiments, although the Z-beam style
cutoff on the low beams makes them far less detrimental that most low beams,
since less light is being projected up high only to be reflected back in
your face from the particles of fog/dust/rain/snow.

I had 7" round Ciebie z-beam lamps in my old Land Cruiser which were
fantastic... never felt the need to add fog lamps after I installed the
Ciebies. Every car I've had since has had terrible low-beam lighting by
comparision... until the S6. Even the US-spec OEM lamps in the S6 are
pretty good (when the lenses are clean.) In fact, they are so good I'm
amazed they got DOT-certification!

Nonetheless, it would be useful to operate fog lights w/o the low beams
during heavy fog, etc.

There are some states (such as Wisconsin) where it is legal to operate fog
lights w/o low beams when conditions require. IIRC, Wisconsin code mentions
severe fog, rain, dust, or snow as conditions under which operation of
"auxillary foul weather lamps" w/o headlights is acceptible.

'95 S6 can't run fog lights w/o low beams... yet!
