  Stefan, the tensioners rarely fail but when they do... They should always
be replaced when doing the timing belt along with waterpump etc... When
doing a big job like that and the pieces are apart you are not paying any
extra for labor if your having some place do it for you just parts prices.
And it is a piece of mind. Better not to go cheap when doing so could ruin
your whole engine.  MGH
