Not sure about this "bucket of bolts" sound Paul is talking about,
unless he's referring to the sound of his LWFW. The first gear whine is
like straight cut gears (think of the sound of reverse gear) and
definitely doesn't disappear when the transmission warms up, so maybe
you have a different issue going on with your gearbox. Is the gear lube
original, or was it replaced with some non-OEM fluid at some point?
Come to think of it, do you by chance have a LWFW? That sound tends to
go away, or at least diminish, when everything warms up.
