That's not really true.  For example, dealers are on solid ground
not wanting to figure the code for a loose radio (that may have been 
stolen).  But it you put the radio in your S car, and drive to the 
dealer and ask them to figure out the code, they will certainly do
it.  It may even be worth dreaming up a story about disconnecting
the battery and now the radio doesn't work ...

I recently found that the local dealer wanted some absurd amount to 
figure out the radio code - $25 or $32 or some such thing.  That caused 
me to look harder and I found my original radio information with the
code card.

Does anybody know if the dealers still have a radio rebuild/replacement 
program?  I remember that it used to only cost $100 (?) or so to get
a repaired radio on an exchange basis.  I have a junk yard radio that
has a cracked LCD glass - a perfect candidate for this.
