Brent, your dealer gave you a load of crap.

Any dealer can pull up the radio code. I did this with my A6 in June. The
car was sold in New Jersey, sold by a used car dealer, to me, in June, and a
dealer in Boston gave me the code. They also charged me a *lot* for the
freakin code, considering it took them 4 minutes on the computer to pull it
up, 1 minute to write down the 4 digits, and then another 3 minutes to add
it to my work order.
