[s-cars] X-Plug Replacement - Help Please

Hi Mark;

Sometimes you get lucky and the hose doesn't interfere and sometimes it
does. If it does you'll have to remove it to get a square shot at the x-plug
cap if yours is on tight. There's a good chance you'll have to loosen the
hose anyway to bleed air out of the pump - I had to do that on my car to get
the pump working again after I replaced the X-plug o-ring. The old o-rings
may be OK for reinstall or they may not - it's best to have a set available.
Make sure you discharge the bomb before loosening the hose banjo bolt.

Subject: [s-cars] X-Plug Replacement - Help Please

Thanks for the torque spec Igor!! I have in hand a replacement x-plug with
o-ring (did Igor give me the part number for that too? Thanks Igor!) and a
ground down draglink (1/2" drive) socket that fits perfectly in the x of the
new plug. The problem is that the high pressure hose interferes and I
cannot get the socket perpendicular to the hydraulic pump on all axes. I
gave it a go nonetheless, but cannot get the old x-plug to budge one bit. I
do have a hand held impact driver of the 3/8" drive variety (no 3/8" F
to1/2" M adapter in hand) suggested by Bob Myers but nonetheless the hose
interferes and the last thing I want to do is strip the old x-plug. Short
of disconnecting the high pressure hose at the pump (sadly I do not have new
o-rings in hand), what have you Audi surgeons done to make this operation a
success. I started grinding down the perimeter of the draglink to give me
more clearance but.

Regards and thanks in advance

Mark
