The thing to use is 3M Strip Calk, part number 08578

Go to the 3M web site here ...

And search for that part number to retrieve detailed info.  You can
buy this at various places, including any NAPA store.  I think the
NAPA price is about $10.

This stuff is perfect for sealing taillights, and you'll find a lot of
other uses for it.
