[s-cars] APIKOL short shifter opinions

I had the Apikol installed last year and although it
didn't require the removal of the tranny, it did
require lowering it slightly. Okay, I will admit that
the fella who did has arms and hands like Popeye's, so
perhaps someone with smaller appendages might fare
better. This was his first time installing one, so
there was some trial and error even with the
accompanying instruction and all in all it took around
2 1/2 hours to put in.
It was certainly worth the expense as it has
dramatically improved, both feel and throw. But, I
would maintain that there is still much room for
improvement. I would guess that it shortens throws by
about 25%, but no more. It does have a down side which
is that it tends to make shifting into 1st somewhat
more laborious and on occasion requires double
clutching to get it in. No big deal, but it didn't
happen before and doesn't happen on my brother's S car
without the Apikol.
If this new system coming out from Billcatz11 can be
combined with Apikol to further improve feel and throw
I would be thrilled and assuming price is reasonable,
would jump on it. Frankly, even with the Apikol, the
shifter is still pretty crappy as compared with other
cars I've had the pleasure of piloting. It (the
shifter) just doesn't reward the way a fun car to
drive should.
That's my $.02.

Best,

Alex
