I think experiences go both ways.  On my car, I'm running a stock MAF with 
both screens removed, and this engine made 418 (highly contested) horsepower 
ATW.  It runs very nice, and very smooth.  However, the screens were undoubtedly 
put there for a reason, so my experience may be unique.
