I used an A B switch so I can still play CD's (but never do anymore)
from Jeff Bipes which is more or less detailed here:
http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/electrical_equipment/ipodinstall.html
I bought a cell phone mount from ProFit which is way overpriced but shown here:
http://www.phonemerchants.com/96aua4qu28wi.html
I covered the whole cell mount with 3m dual lock (Ace Hdwr bulk section)
http://cms.3m.com/cms/GB/en/0-165/iRlreFV/view.jhtml
and then just made four each less than dime size tabs that I stuck to
the back of the ipod (dual lock rules;) I run the wires out of one
removed fake button sluggs. This set up allows easy tuning while
driving and ez removal when necessary and it can be ezilly pulled off
the dual lock and tuned if the passenger or even the driver wants to
hold it.
And finally what makes a real clean install is the Belkin car ipod
adapter like this:
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=2062&pcount=&Product_Id=149006
available generally on ebay for <$20.
I plugged this into an old extra cigarette lighter adapter and stuck
it and all the xtra wiring behind the radio. The beauty of this older
Belkin power supply is that it charges the ipod AND transfers the
sound out of its own headphone jack. This allows just ONE plug into
the bottom of bottom of the ipod for both charging AND sound. When
done it should look something like my wifes A8 (if this pic is
viewable from Aworld??)

It would be real nice it there were one of those "Blitzsafe" adapters
for the Delta head... but I think not.
Since I now have the different connections for the generation one ipod
and now want to install the U2 gen 4?? ipod, I have to redo this
perhaps when it gets warmer out there..

ps One thing about this is that you have to remember to turn off the
ipod when turning off the motor or the ipod batteries will totally
discharge and then you gotta bring it in the house to charge it again.
