I would make sure the brake cables are not the culprits. The outer sheath
tends to break where they make a 90 degree turn and go through the rubber
suport. Remove the cables from the calipers and make sure they move freely.
My calipers still work fine at almost 200k miles. Only a little maintenance
on the shaft (see www.urs4.com ) I took apart both calipers on my 200 and
the e-brake shafts needed cleaning and lubing. I took one apart on the S4
and the shaft was fine. All four brake cables replaced and the calipers work
fine.
