[s-cars] RE: EGT guidelines?

Mine is mounted in the hotside scroll.  950C is pushing it.  Mounting it in
the downpipe near to the stock oxygen sensor will reduce EGT's by about
150-200C, depending on downpipe design.  IOW, if you are seeing 950C at the
stock oxygen sensor, you're close to annealing the head on the car.

Oh, and forget an analog EGT gauge.  My gauge uses a standard flat-pin plug
suitable for all NiCr-Ni (type "K") probes, runs off a 9V battery, offers
split-second refresh, and is accurate to within 1.5% at 900C.

All depends on where you tap it.  I have mine 3" from the #4 exhaust
port and when it starts to get to 900C, I get a little worried.
