[s-cars] Turbo resetting, lost boost...

You should also check if any codes are being thrown.
If you get the 2224 blink code (or a 00544 DTC from
VAG 1551, VAG-Com, etc.) then this would confirm the
likelihood of a leaking boost hose or a popped-off hose to the
ECU pressure sensor.
This particular code can be stored if the ECU determines
that there's more air flow at the MAF than can possibly
be generated at the measured manifold pressure and
engine RPM. In other words, the measured pressure at
the ECU is below what it should be under these conditions.
Hence, the pressure sensor could be defective or disconnected,
and there's a risk that the actual manifold pressure could be
much higher than what's being indicated.
Or, if the problem is due to a leak after the turbo, then the turbo
could overspin. Another way this code could be thrown is if
the manifold pressure is really exceeding limits because of a faulty
wastegate or other problem.
In any case, when the ECU detects this problem, then the engine
initially cuts the fuel and then limits the boost to prevent possible
damage. So sometimes lost boost can be a good thing ;-)
