For any of those interested in thinking about planning something like this
next year, as a FYI re: 2005's attached is the sample itinerary for the
whole boat version (& you can take less, for example I won't get to Germany
till late on the 5th, and will meet up with the group in Trier. Another
Colorado area participant will only be doing the track days portion from the
8th to the 11th....)

Subject: Nurburgring Update 3 - Hotel details
Howdy Ringsters:
We now have three 4-star hotels contracted for our August adventure. Details
below.
Thanks to all who have already completed to the Questionnaire needed to make
reservations and order shirts/nametags on your behalf. Everyone else,
please reply when you have decided on your travel requests. The deadline is
just a couple of weeks away.
For those on (or considering) the pre-Tour, we have a couple of
ideally-located hotels:
August 3-4, Crowne Plaza Hotel in Heidelberg.
Ideal for your arrival night in Germany, it's about a 1-hour drive from
Frankfurt Airport with easy driving directions. It's located right in the
heart of Heidelberg, a picturesque university town overlooked by the famous
red castle. The Hotel is air-conditioned and has underground parking. It's
a great place to walk around when you arrive and shake off jet lag, and a
central starting point for our travel plans to the Sinsheim auto and
technical museum and the Hockenheim race track. We have a rate of EURO 110
per double room (or 55 each for a shared room) including VAT tax and the
breakfast buffet. Click on

August 5-6, Dorint Porta Nigra Hotel in Trier.
This hotel is adjacent to the downtown walking promenade in Trier, a
historic city which dates back to the Roman Empire. Lots of restaurants and
sights are nearby, and the Hotel itself has air-conditioned rooms and an
underground parking garage. It's a central staging ground for our planned
visits to the Nürburgring or Spa tracks, or an exploration of the Belgium
and Luxemburg countryside or Trier itself. We have a rate of EURO 95 for
single rooms and EURO 121 for a double, including VAT tax and a breakfast
buffet. Click on http://www.dorint.de/trier/uk/home.html
For our track days during the School (August 7-10, check-out 11th), we have
rooms at Dorint Hotel Nürburgring. The Dorint is built right along the main
straightaway of the Nürburgring Grand Prix course and is the home of all F1
stars during the European Grand Prix. It will be filled with DTM race teams
and spectators during the weekend before we arrive, so we can't check into
our rooms until 3 pm or so. Each room features an automotive motif and
closed-circuit TV with cameras on the GP course. We'll need to park across
the street when we arrive due to the race crowds, but underground parking
will open up later and be available throughout our stay. The arrival dinner
and Awards Banquet, as well as lunches during the School, will be served at
the Dorint Hotel. We have a rate of EURO 93 for single rooms and EURO 108
for a double, including VAT and a breakfast buffet. Click on

I hope this information is helpful as you make your plans. Coming next,
