[s-cars] Unlocatable fuel-like smell

I have a 95.5 S6 and the venting for the fuel tank runs up to the  
passenger's side front wheel well. It then vents out to atmosphere just under  the 
passenger's side door. During hot days, especially at the track, you can  smell it. 
I was thinking of getting new fuel cap. The pressure  release in the cap 
might not be functioning properly, thereby allowing more  venting to the 
atmosphere.
