[s-cars] Intake Air Temp - TDS-1 data

A few wheks ago, after I installed my Kevin Day TDS-1 turbo data info
system, I mentioned in my write-up that I saw 193 deg C intake air temp
(IAT) on one WOT pull. I know some of you may have (or did) question
that number. Last night, at our local Vancouver S-car club meeting,
Sean Douglas quizzed my on that number and I said, I saw 193 but I had
the TDS-1 intake air display in the instantaneous display mode, not the
five second max mode. I thought I saw 193.

But did I? Hmmm....

So on the way home, I set the TDS-1 to the 5 second max IAT reading mode
and watched it as I cruised over to the highway on ramp that I take. It
was a warm (80 deg F) night and I was getting in the high 70's to low
90's deg C intake air temps on the mile or so drive over to the
highway. After idling for 20 or 30 seconds at the light leading to the
on-ramp (low 70's deg C readings), I nailed it pretty good going up the
on-ramp to the highway. I was watching traffic not the display (which
is a good idea) and when I did look down at the in-dash display (in the
"OK" status/radio display window), the reading was 204 deg. C.

Yes, 204.

So my previous flash of 193 deg C was probably real in the sense that it
was the number displayed in the window.

I will be installing my Tom Mullane/Marc Swanson FMIC on the weekend
(finally). It will be interesting to see how much lower the air temps
will be and also whether my software will stop pulling the timing back
during these hot WOT runs (which it has been doing - in a surgey sort of
way).
