[s-cars] Intake Air Temp - TDS-1 data

Hi Dave,

Yes it is. Very easy to install. As stock air intake is no longer in place,
more cool air flows over the turbo. I mounted a thermistor on oxygen sensor
and drove around before and after mod. I noted a 4 or 5 degree drop in air
temp after mod.

Also increased air input - faster accelaration but no increase in HP. I have
Stage 2 MRC chips. Have been advised that this is designed for 22-23 PSI. I
have seen 26PSI after I did mod. Unfortunately I did mod before installing
chips so don't know if this is the casue but suspect so - Mihnea has not
responded to my e-mails asking about this.

Stock air intake warms the air, snakes around the engine compartment and
genrally SLOWS air intake. Did you know that in the middle of the intake
hose there is a cross member reducing cross section area by a substantial
amount. The mod'd hose is 4" in diameter, 12" long and air is MUCH cooler.

See pics.

Tony: The temperature data may not be correct (faulty IAT). In any event,
I am
(finally) installing a Tom Mullane/Marc Swanson front-mounted intercooler
kit
tomorrow. So temps will be down. Nevertheless, what you are describing is
Hap
McGuire's solution (of a few years ago) to "negative" boost. It worked for
him
(and others).
