[s-cars] Are Rs2"d S4's that faaaast?

Only knowing the lower half of the equation personally, chipped K-24, and
not having any personal expereince with the RS2 I will say that Sean's
analysis is probably spot on. When drag racing my S4 it goes like a bat out
of hell through gears 1-2. When you hit that long pull in 3rd gear from
62ish to 97ish mph that is when you suffer the "K-24 blues." It really
dies. If you do most of your driving at less than 60 and like better
response across the RPM range stick with the K-24. If you want the extra HP
at the price of low end go with the RS2. I am presently on the fence with
this decision myself. At sea level I think I would be pushed towards the
RS2 because I could put up with more lag than what I presently have there.
At altitude, like here in Denver......well I just haven't quite been able to
convince myself it would be a good thing....I am actually thinking a better
upgrade might be a FMIC on a chipped K-24 for a car driven at altitude and
my driving environment...anybody have any expereince with this setup and is
it worth the $ and hassle?

Miro:

I think I responded to that thread and I stand by my opinion as I made
the progression from a stock K24 to a MTM 1+ to RS2.

The K24 with a 280 HP chip (MTM 1+) has a huge bump in torque at about
3000 rpm, but after 5500 rpm, the K24 is making more heat than moving
air and the HP/TQ drops way off. The RS2 doesn't hit its stride until
about 3200 rpm, but it pulls hard to redline (7000). I've hit the rev
limiter on more than one occasion because the rpm climb very fast.

If you are running mostly around town, then you won't notice much
difference, but on the freeway or other areas where you can run up to
redline, the RS2 definitely is faster in the top end.
