[s-cars] the latest on my shut off problem.....

The CPS (in my experience) will not cause the car to die once running...it
didn't for me. It may not run at it's best, but should not cause it to die.
When the CPS fails if already running, I believe the ECU will retard the
timing. I would go with faulty ground first, then move on to the CPS if
that's still an issue. To replace the CPS you gotta pull da gear! :-(

Subject: [s-cars] the latest on my shut off problem.....
Hi guys,
ok, first of all, thanks to everyone who've been sending me suggestions
regarding my intermittant shut down problem. Lots of folks seem to think I
have a ground problem, which could be but I have what could be another hint.
Yesterday for the first time I couldn't get the car started right from the
get go. Usually it fires right up and runs for some random amount of time
and then decides to shut down.
After cranking it for a while listening for relays, checking voltages etc it
eventually did re-fire. This time I got error codes ! 2113 or CPS!
Hmmmm.... I can see why a CPS would prevent a start but could it also be the
cause of it dying on me once running ? I thought that I read somewhere that
once the car is running the CPS is no longer part of the equation. What say
you ??? I've also heard that a potential faulty ground could trigger the
2113.... 8-(
Any tips for replacing the CPS ? I'm pretty sure I don't look forward to
doing it if I have to pull the gear... is this possible ?
Also, for the lister comparing the stock vrs stg1 vrs Rs power and
responses regarding the extra lag of the Rs. My experience is a light alumn
flywheel more than makes up for the low end loss and once revs are up, the
full Rs compliment is da-balls....
Also, regarding the 1.8t integrated coil as a replacement. Has anyone tried
Javads efi stuff ? I've only glanced at it but the capabilities sound
really interesting. Didn't even look at price but I'm guessing it's $$$
tom.
