If i can assume that A4 is a late 90s to early 2000's model, you are not
at all alone. Lots of those units failed, many with much less milage.
Please post to the URL above to have your compliaint registered with
the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
When you write that letter, or post to this site, you may wish to note
that many of the bosch units released at this time have a similar failure
rate. I belive the one in the A4 is the 5.3 unit. That unit was common
to other models as well, even some outside the Audi/VW line such as BMW,
ford, subaru...
My understanding of this fauilre is that it is from the electronics only,
and for $300 you can have it repaired by an independant electornics repair
shop. The hydrolics are very rarely a problem.
If you have an address to send a letter, pls carbon me on that address.
I'll write a letter too.
