Thats a whole different story and no it won't work, I talked to an RI and
also the customs agents about this and even if you bring the engine in seperate
from the car it still has to be registered as something and they said unless
you get rid of the identity of what it is your bringing in and call it a show
car or a race car it can't be done for normal street driving. They did say
you could call it a show car but you would be limited to how many miles a year
you could drive it and if it was a race car then it had to meet all the
specs of a race car like a roll cage and so on. I agree that yes, I see all kinds
of right hand drive and other cars that were never brought here on the road
but who knows what they went through to do it. I'm not to worried about it at
this point with my car because its much more thrack than street set up right
now anyway.

That's a nice loophole if that's in fact what they do. That's a
pretty nice looking car... reminds me of a cooler looking version of
that new "baby lotus" that everyone here in Chicago seems to be
getting instead of Corvettes now...

So what about that guys? Can you pull an engine from an "unauthorized
Audi" and ship it on it's own, then ship the car by itself without it
having to be inspected? I know nothing about kit cars and how they're
registered, etc... but that's an interesting idea for anyone on the
list that wants a "cheap" way of importing an Audi they can't get here
:)
