RE: [s-cars] Removing Timing Belt CoverUnfortuantely, due to car being off
the road and needing it this weekend, I've had to cheat. I didn't get the
2AV54 part from Newark. I went to a local Euro car breaker and picked up a
1990 Volvo distributor arm which just happens to use the same hall device,
the HKZ101. I've drilled the rivets off this and have placed it on the CPS
bracket, spliced in wiring and is currently awaiting re-assembly under the
cam sprocket.

Once I get my act together, I will use the Volvo rotor arm as a test bed fot
the 2AV54 part because I know I will probably need another one sometime in
the future.

Tony, I hope you will share this Newark replacement component with the
list. Sounds like a great find, I really hope it works, kuddo's to you!

  Thanks Seam.

All is apart now and I can see that the red wire is broken right at the
edge
of the hall sender. I have found a similar part at Newark components that
I
can swap with original for $18 plus shipping. A lot better that $414 for
whole unit from stealer, or even $190US (inc shipping) from other
suppliers.

  Tony:

Here is a pic of a tool to hold the cam sprocket while loosening the
  bolt;

  Its called a pin wrench.

You will probably have to loosen the t-belt roller / tensioner to give
you enough slack to remove the sprocket. Once you have the belt off,
make sure you don't turn the sprocket, its probably a good idea to line
up the timing mark or mark it with chalk.
