The pressure on the rail anywhere before the FRP should be the same.  
The problem you might have is that the gauge thickness of the square 
tubing is much thinner in this part of the rail.  Where I drilled, there 
was a machined block of steel that was much thicker than the rest of the 
rail. I doubt that you would be able to use a pipe thread on this thin 
material without having it leak.  But maybe some other type of fitting 
would work.
