Yes.
In short, it uses the ABS hydraulic unit (with two extra
valves/solenoids added) to generate pressure (using the ABS motor) to
brake the faster spinning rear wheel until that rear wheel matches (or
comes close to) the other rear wheel.
It's a relatively small cost compared to a locker rear and associated
actuation for said locker. (and normally less warranty risk too)
