The Porsche 968 (uses the same Gertag transmission as the UrS) had the
pinion bearing failures into the 1995 model, so I wouldn't be surprised if
the problem extends into the S6 model on our cars.

This was an observation made years ago and at the time the earlier cars had
on average more miles on them. I have now seen a few S6s with this issue.
