What kind of noise? There is no sense in starting an engine with a rod
bearing that is starting to go. You'll just throw more metal shavings
throughout the engine. Pull the oil pan first and check things out.

Subject: [s-cars] Engine Test after Loss of Oil

All,

Recap: unplanned encounter with signpost, passenger side, between
front wheel and headlight. Took out the oil cooler resulting in oil
loss. Had to drive about a mile to get to a pullover. Engine making
noise toward the end.

I will have a replacement oilcooler in the next couple of days. I
plan to mount it up and fill engine with fresh Mobil1.

Now, what is the recommended procedure to try to relubricate the
engine before actual ingnition? Can I pull a relay for the fuel pump
and crank it? I assume that removing plugs and turning by hand would
do little.

All thoughts welcome.
